Illustration for Wildlife Fundraiser
In 2022, I worked as a designer for a fundraiser and music festival called Trash Cat Birthday. My role was to create social media content and promotional designs leading up to the event. This was held to raise funds and promote awareness for a wildlife rescue in the Orlando area. The idea was to highlight the animals that are often considered nuisances as they needed support to be rehabilitated just like other animals we consider our pets. I wanted to personify them through some fun colorful illustrations with a messy approach to the line work. I incorporated some spray paint effects to parallel the attitudes of these messy little creatures.
Another fun design choice we used to express the animals attitudes was through the creation of a temporary tattoo that could be passed out during the event. This was a collaborative effort between a few of the designers working on the project. The tattoos ended up going over very well with the attendees and it brought another layer of detail to the experience that was a unique touch.
Through a successful promotional campaign, not only were we able to donate funds to the Haven Wildlife Organization, but we also brought audiences together from surrounding areas to showcase up-and-coming musical talent. These experiences of working within my own community are very valuable ones that bring me a lot of joy. I loved that my design work contributed to the excitement of the event and was used to bring people together to have fun, social and enriching experiences.
